Dear Valued Customer

As one of our favorite people always says when he walks through our doors upon his return to Vero Beach, “Let the Season Begin”! Believe me, it truly has begun. This year people are back in full force. We are in the middle of a mad rush like we haven’t seen in a while. We have been in high gear on the local waterfront delivering boats from out of our warehouses after their summer naps. Contrary to media reporting we have also been busy making ready new boats, both Grady White and Hurricane Deck Boats are being delivered to those smart folks who wanted to be ready to go boating when they returned for the season. We welcome aboard Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lower, Mr. and Mrs. Don Chambers, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davidson, and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Scanlon! These folks will all be taking delivery of their new boats this month! Boaters will go boating! As we say around here, theses are times to “invest in happiness” so let’s have some fun and go boating. A wise old man once said, when you reach 40, your time and pleasures are more valuable than your money.

Obviously with all of the aforementioned activity around here the boys in the service department deserve a tip of the hat for all their hard work. From the warehouses to the waterfront these guys have done their best to make your boating as convenient and hassle free as possible. We still have a way to go before we get beyond the “snowbird rush”, but we are working hard and providing service with a smile!

By the time most of you read this we will be in the middle of a big week. The Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show is typically an indicator for our industry as to what the next year will hold. With the day after the show being a historic election day, its yet to be seen what the effect on the show will be, but if last years show is any indication we will once again have proof that “quality sells”. The most recent in-water Boston Boat Show was an excellent show for Grady-White and we hope the momentum continues here in Florida. For those of you who read this before Election Day, don’t forget to vote YES on Amendment 6. This is the save our waterfront bill that has been on many State agendas along the East Coast and now its on the ballot here in Florida. Simply put, this bill helps curb the tax on commercial waterfront properties to help keep marinas like ours public as opposed to a private condo style marina. We need help on this one so for more details visit www.saveourwaterfronts.org. November also brings us the Vero Beach Fall Boat Show. This years dates are Saturday and Sunday November 22nd and 23rd in Riverside Park. This is always a fun show for us. It’s casual, its local, and it’s a bit like old home week as we get to visit with the folks that we haven’t seen in a while! Of course we have fun selling boats here as well! We pride ourselves in assisting people in choosing the right boat the first time. Remember the most expensive boat you can buy is the wrong one. We work hard to provide you with the safest, most reliable, and most respected boats and motors in the industry. Quality and good value will always be in style so come visit us and let us help you get out on the water! There is always something going on around here and its our plan to keep the momentum going by providing the same great service, the best boats and motors, and all the things a boater may need or want right here in the ships store. Also, starting November 9th our ships store will be open from 8am till 5pm Monday through Saturday for your convenience! The boating lifestyle is still one of the best family activities I know of. Whether it be cruising, fishing, or beaching on your own private island here in the Indian River there is no better way to “get it together”. Our Grady Bunch is further proof of this. Ask anyone who is a member and you will find out why this fun boating group is celebrating its 20th Anniversary!

In the Grady Bunch department we are busy getting ready for the upcoming season. Our first get together at Pirate’s Cove in Stuart was scheduled for last weekend but sadly was scrubbed because of the foul weather. This will have to be re-scheduled, as this is a great “local destination”. We always have fun there! November 9th is the local blessing of the fleet and takes place just north of the Barber Bridge right in town. This event is sponsored by the Vero Beach Yacht Club and we encourage all of our boating friends to turn out and participate. Next up in the first week of December, one of my favorites, Christmas Shopping by Boat in Palm Beach. This is a great way to get into the Christmas Spirit. We have planned this around the Palm Beach Christmas Boat Parade, which is one of the best. We will be staying at Sailfish Marina at Singer Island, so we will literally have front row seats for the festivities. Visit our website at www.veromarine.com for all the latest info!

Obviously there is much to talk about but most importantly there is Thanksgiving. This is family time of the year. Our kids will be home, our friends have returned, and we are thankful. Thankful for all of you, our friends and customers, thankful for our families, thankful to be involved in this fun business of boating and I guess just thankful to be who we are, and where we are. We look forward to seeing all of you soon! From all of us at “The Busy Marina” – Bruce, Jackie, Lyndsay, Laura, Jean, Tony, Boo, Jeff, Pete, Cory, Pat, Brian, Mark, Artie, Travis, and myself…

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Boating,
